Term 1

NDR 707 Negotiation and Conflict Resolution - Foundations I (3 credits)
First component of a three-part course presenting a broad introduction to the field and a strong foundation in key concepts

NDR 727 Negotiation and Conflict Resolution - Residency (3 credits)
The residential component of the three-part foundations course building upon the online module with presentations, skill development, and case simulations

Term 2

NDR 717 Negotiation and Conflict Resolutions - Foundations II (2 credits)
Third component of a three-part course presenting a broad introduction to the field and a strong foundation in key concepts


Semester Two

Term 1

NDR 737 Online Dispute Resolution (2 credits)
Addresses the emerging practice of conflict resolution in cyberspace and provides hands-on training in the use of emerging technologies to supplement traditional dispute resolution approaches

NDR 787 Mediation - Residency (4 credits)
Provides intensive training in mediation skills and techniques through role play, case examples, demonstrations, simulations and small group sessions

Term 2

NDR 747 Dynamics of Conflict Resolution (2 credits)
Addresses the nature, meaning and dynamics of conflict and the challenges of communication in interpersonal, inter-group and intra-group settings

NDR 757 Systems and Consulting for Conflict Specialists (2 credits)
Examines how an understanding of systems can help us understand conflict and effective management of conflict and the role conflict specialists can play as consultants to organizations


Semester Three

Term 1

NDR 767 Culture, Gender, and Power Differences in Conflict (2 credits)
Provides an inter-disciplinary look at issues related to the role of culture, gender, and other factors in conflict analysis

NDR 7xx NDR Specialization Course (3 credits)
Particular attention is paid to what is special about the substantive area (Organizational, Healthcare, Education, and International) and how concepts learned throughout the program apply in specific professional settings

Term 2

NDR 777 Conflict Specialist Ally Roles (2 credits)
Examines the range of roles for conflict specialists with a focus on application of conflict/communication principles

NDR 7xx NDR Specialization - Independent Research Project (3 credits)
Students expand on their understanding of a specific topic within their chosen specialization through a structured research project guided by their specialization professor


Semester Four

Term 1

NDR 778 Practicum (4 credits)
Students identify a practical field experience to further develop and apply their skills in a professional or oganizational setting of their choice
