An Interdisciplinary Program to Help You Face Real-World Conflict

The online Master's Degree in Negotiation and Dispute Resolution is an interdisciplinary degree offered through the WERNER INSTITUTE at the Creighton University School of Law. The program is grounded in legal problem solving, policy, and principles related to conflict management and mediation. But it also incorporates elements of business studies and the social sciences—including organizational development, psychology, sociology and communication—to help you prepare for the interpersonal element of conflict and negotiation. As a Jesuit institution, we instill a strong sense of ethics and service for others in our students and incorporate these values across the curriculum.

Concentrations Targeted to Your Interests and Industry Needs

The program includes four concentrations that reflect employment and industry trends:

• The ORGANIZATIONAL/TRANSACTIONAL NEGOTIATION
      concentration is targeted toward resolving disputes that arise in
      businesses, government, large institutions and community
      organizations.
• INTERNATIONAL NEGOTIATIONS AND CONFLICT RESOLUTION
      focuses on intercultural communication and disputes crossing
      national boundaries, which can benefit global corporations,
      international organizations and the military.
•  HEALTH CARE COLLABORATION AND DISPUTE  RESOLUTION
      concentration covers disputes related to the
      increasingly complex health care industry, with implications
      for patient safety, coverage issues, professional relationships
      and health care administration.
• The COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE AND CONFLICT RESOLUTION
      in Education concentration explores conflict within the context
      of schools—conflict between students and institutions,
      organizational conflict between staff and faculty and other
      relevant issues.

Hands-on Practice

In this program, we don’t just tell you about conflict management techniques—we show you and put you in the driver’s seat. You’ll have the opportunity to practice and perfect what you learn through role playing, simulations, and group exercises at two five-day residencies at our campus in Omaha, Nebraska.
